The Kaduna State Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have dismissed a viral document alleging the release of ₦2.3 trillion in state funds to finance the party’s 2027 presidential campaign flag-off, describing the document as a “malicious and mathematically absurd” forgery designed to mislead the public.
The controversial document, purportedly dated 18 October, 2026 and titled “Notification for Preparations for the Grand Rally Flag Off”, claimed that Governor Uba Sani had approved the release of ₦2.3 trillion of public funds for the single-day campaign launch at the Kaduna Township Stadium. The event marked the formal launch of the governing party’s northern mobilisation drive, where the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Abdul’aziz Yari, assured President Bola Tinubu that the entire political leadership of Northern Nigeria remains fully aligned behind his re-election bid.
In a swift reaction, Commissioner for Information and Culture in Kaduna State
Ahmed Maiyaki, alongside APC national publicity officials, presented verified fiscal evidence dismantling the viral claim.
Authorities pointed out that the alleged expenditure of ₦2.3 trillion exceeds Kaduna State’s entire approved 2026 annual budget of ₦985.92 billion by more than double, while surpassing the state’s cumulative budgets over the past three fiscal years combined.
State officials also highlighted conspicuous clerical blunders within the fraudulent memo, including the misspelling of the Governor’s surname on the official signature block as “Uba Sai”.
The APC clarified that the alleged spending would represent a flagrant breach of the Electoral Act 2026, which strictly caps total presidential campaign expenditures at ₦10 billion, an amount 230 times lower than the figure cited in the fabricated letter.
The Kaduna State Government confirmed that it has formally requested federal security agencies and law enforcement bodies to track down and prosecute the syndicates behind the forged Government House correspondence, warning political actors against deploying fabricated documentation to manipulate public sentiment ahead of the 2027 polls.
