The opposition Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has rolled out a comprehensive operational roadmap in Abuja, convening its 3rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, inaugurating a new national secretariat, and formally inaugurating its consolidated 2027 National Campaign Council (NCC).
The day-long political programme, staged on Monday, 26 October 2026, commenced with the party’s NEC session at the JD Vance Centre in Maitama, followed by the formal inaugurating of its new central administrative headquarters in Jabi. The schedule culminates in an evening inauguration of the National Campaign Council, alongside the presentation of Certificates of Return to party standard-bearers and a strategic dinner.
Departing from the conventional approach of managing electoral races through fragmented committees, the party has opted for a single, harmonised national campaign council tasked with coordinating presidential, governorship, and legislative campaigns under unified command. Under the leadership hierarchy, the party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, serves as Chairman of the Council, while presidential candidate Peter Obi is designated Co-Chairman. The NDC National Chairman, Senator Okezie Ikpeazu, serves as Vice Chairman, with vice-presidential candidate Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as Co-Vice Chairman, Ikenna Nweke as Council Secretary, and Ibrahim Abdulkarim directing daily operations as Director-General.
Explaining the council’s mandate, NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, stated that the consolidated structure is strategically designed to ensure tactical synergy and grassroots penetration across all electoral tiers ahead of the 2027 polls. Attendance across Monday’s engagements was strictly restricted to members of the National Working Committee, confirmed party flagbearers, and designated campaign council appointees to ensure cohesive alignment as political activities intensify nationwide.
