President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hosted key members of the Nigerian delegation to a high-level dinner gathering in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where political and business leaders pledged unified backing for national growth.
The strategic gathering took place on Saturday, October 31, 2026, following the completion of spiritual rites and supplications during the lesser hajj pilgrimage. The dinner provided a platform for high-level consultations involving the executive branch, subnational leaders, and private-sector stakeholders away from the daily administrative pressures in Abuja.
The meeting drew prominent figures spanning governance, law, diplomacy, and the corporate sector. The delegation of state governors was led by the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State. He was joined by state executives Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, and Mai Mala Buni of Yobe. The private sector was represented by corporate heavyweights, including the Founder and Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, alongside the Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, Adewale Tinubu.
Key federal cabinet members and senior presidential aides also attended the dinner. The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, was present alongside the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate. The presidential entourage included Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, and Special Adviser on Political Affairs Ibrahim Kabiru Masari.
During the cross-sector fellowship, members of the delegation pledged their continued collective support for the administration in their respective institutional and private capacities. The attendees emphasised their strict alignment on policies driving socio-economic recovery, structural stability, and long-term prosperity. The presence of corporate leaders like Rabiu underlined ongoing strategic dialogues between the federal government and industrial conglomerates aimed at bolstering local manufacturing, investment inflows, food security, and infrastructure development.
Addressing the gathering, Tinubu and the attendees highlighted the necessity for consistent prayers and civic cooperation to overcome prevailing socio-economic and security challenges. The delegation offered joint supplications for national cohesion, the safety of security forces on the front lines, and enduring peace across Nigeria.
